BIO: AUGUST ZADRA
The ideal tribute musician should not only be able to figure out and play all the correct notes of the music being covered, but also capture every nuance and detail that made the original performance special. SMOKIN' guitarist/vocalist August Zadra fits this description to the letter.
One of the founding members of SMOKIN', a native of Fairbanks Alaska and a graduate of the "Guitar Institute of Technology" in Hollywood, CA, August is known in the tribute circles for his accuracy, passionate delivery and solid tenor voice (not to mention his well documented "guitar face").
A true tribute veteran, "AZ" as he is affectionately known by his peers has performed so far with no less than 8 So. Cal. tribute acts including Styx tribute Grand Illusion for whom he renders a very convincing Tommy Shaw impersonation.
August was also recently a finalist in the VH1 reality series "YOU ROCK WITH" where he vied for a chance to perform in concert with 80s hair band giants POISON, makeup, big hair and all! 'Twas only the fact that he absent mindedly played the solo from "Peace Of Mind" by mistake in his audition song that kept him from winning. No worries - we KNOW he nailed it.
